～だから
so / therefore
～だから marks a reason that leads to the following statement. It is the copula だ (is) plus から (because), and it attaches directly to nouns and な-adjectives.
The clause before だから gives the cause; the clause after it gives the result. In English it maps to “because it's ..., so ...” or simply “so / therefore”.
1. Giving a reason inside one sentence
State the cause, attach だから, then say what you will do or what follows from it.
雨だから、傘を持って行く。
“It's raining, so I'll take an umbrella.”
- 雨（あめ）= rain
- だから = because it is, so
- 傘（かさ）= umbrella
- を = object marker
- 持って行く（もっていく）= will take (along)
2. Starting a new sentence: “That's why ...”
だから can also stand at the beginning of a sentence, pointing back to what was just said: “that's why”, “so”.
明日は試験だ。だから、今日は早く寝る。
“Tomorrow is the exam. So today I'll go to bed early.”

How to form it
Noun / な-adjective + だから (verbs and い-adjectives take から directly, without だ)
- 雨（あめ）= rain → 雨だから（あめだから）= because it is raining
- 静か（しずか）= quiet → 静かだから（しずかだから）= because it is quiet
- 学生（がくせい）= student → 学生だから（がくせいだから）= because (someone) is a student
Key idea
～だから says “A is the reason, and B follows from it.” The cause comes first, the conclusion comes second, the opposite order from English “B because A”.
